A New Look for ComAI: Logo, Website Design and Visual Identity

Our research unit Communicative AI: Researching the Automation of Societal Communication (DFG/FWF Research Unit RU 5656) is presenting itself with a new visual identity. At the center is a newly developed logo that combines the name “ComAI” with graphic elements evoking digital infrastructures and communicative networks.
As part of this relaunch, the ComAI website has also been redesigned: A new background image, updated layout elements, and improved content structure contribute to a more consistent and contemporary appearance. The visual update is also reflected across the group’s social media presence.
The logo and design were developed by Research Unit members Kim Lisa Ermler and Rahel Winter, together with designer Zenobio Almeida. They support ComAI’s goal of making current developments in communicative AI visible—both within the academic field and to a broader public. According to Almeida, „the logo visually represents the convergence of two forms of communication: The blue organic flow stands for human communication, while the pink network of nodes and edges symbolizes machinic communication. Their integration within a dialog box reflects the way these modes of interaction merge in our everyday experience, especially through our communication with large language models via dialog interfaces“.
