Rebecca Scharlach

Rebecca Scharlach is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Platform Governance, Media & Technology Lab at ZeMKI. She is the PI of the research project “Values-based Governance: European Approaches to AI Regulation”, which is funded by the Central Research Unit of the University of Bremen. Her research focuses on the intersection of values and ideologies in tech governance.
Rebecca received her PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2024, where she was a core member of the ERC-funded research project Digital Values. Her work has been published in leading academic outlets such as New Media & Society, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Journal of Communication, and Communication Theory. She is a member of the 2025–2027 executive board of the Association of Internet Researchers.
