Gabriela Molina León (Aarhus university, Denmark): The Impact of GenAI on Visualization Research and Practice

Gabriela Molina León is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Aarhus University, advised by Niklas Elmqvist. She designs and implements interactive visualizations to support data exploration and sensemaking. Her research interests include multimodal interaction, collaborative visual analytics, and information visualization beyond the desktop.

In 2024, she received her PhD from the University of Bremen under the supervision of Andreas Breiter and Petra Isenberg. In her dissertation, she investigated how different input modalities and devices can support data experts in visually exploring and making sense of data, both individually and collaboratively.

Her work has been recognized with paper awards at the IEEE VIS and MuC conferences, as well as the EuroVis Best PhD Dissertation Award. She holds a Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Prior to that, she studied Computer Engineering at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela and at INSA Lyon in France. Together with Moritz Stefaner and Niels Ohlsen, she co-organizes the Data Visualization Bremen meetup.
