ComAI takes part in the international conference „GenAI & Creative Practices“ in Amsterdam
Our research group ComAI – Communicative Artificial Intelligence is represented at the international conference GenAI & Creative Practices: Past, Present, and Future, which will take place on 17–18 December 2025 at the University of Amsterdam. The conference brings together international scholars from media, cultural, social, and technology studies to discuss the social, political, and cultural implications of generative AI for creative practices.
In a panel entitled “Societal creativity, communicative AI and digital futures: Imaginations, governance, agency,” projects P1, P4, and P5, together with the ComAI Research Space, contribute key perspectives from their research to the discussion. The panel addresses how communicative AI shapes societal imaginaries of creativity, which forms of agency are attributed to humans and AI systems, and how these processes are influenced by governance structures, regulation, and institutional frameworks. In doing so, ComAI contributes to a critical engagement with digital futures and the role of generative AI in creative and communicative processes.
In addition, Dr Rebecca Scharlach (University of Bremen / ZeMKI), an associated member of the ComAI research network, will present her work at the conference in a joint paper with Taylor Annabell.
The participation in the GenAI & Creative Practices conference highlights the international visibility of the ComAI research consortium and its engagement with current debates on generative AI, creativity, and social change.
