From Platform Governance to Generative AI:
Leading International Scholars Discuss Key Issues of Technology and Power at University of Bremen
At a time when generative AI and digital platforms are increasingly shaping public discourse, social norms, and political processes, the symposium brings together leading international scholars and experts to critically explore the evolving landscape of platform and AI governance. The programme offers space for in-depth discussion and collaborative reflection on key issues of politics and power, trends and technologies. The symposium will combine conceptual and analytical perspectives with empirical approaches, addressing challenges such as data access and research in complex digital infrastructures. In a public evening panel, scholars and policymakers will discuss the power and politics of technology governance.
We are proud to welcome a distinguished group of plenary speakers, including Thomas Poell and Natali Helberger (University of Amsterdam), Sarah T. Roberts (UCLA), Tarleton Gillespie (Microsoft Research / Social Media Collective), Elinor Carmi (City St George’s, University of London), Amélie Heldt (German Federal Chancellery), Arnika Zinke (European Parliament), Nicolas Suzor (Queensland University of Technology) and Jillian C. York (Electronic Frontier Foundation / CIHR), who will share their insights into the current and future challenges of tech governance.
