P7 | Persönlicher Alltag: Begleitung und kommunikative KI

On June 4, 2025, Annalena Mittlmeier (doctoral researcher) and Prof. Dr. Michaela Pfadenhauer presented key perspectives from the ComAI sub-project “Everyday Life and Communicative AI Companionship” (P7) at a seminar hosted by the University of Bielefeld.

Their presentation focused on the question of post-sociality in relation to communicative AI – particularly in the context of grief. The discussion explored how AI-based companion technologies can create digital personae that continue to shape social relationships beyond death. The talk was part of the seminar “Current Research in Media Sociology: Social Situations in Digital Infrastructures”, taught by Prof. Dr. Heike Greschke, and brought together media theory and empirical insights from the project.
