Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen
Principal Investigator P5: "Journalism: Automating the news and journalistic autonomy"
Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen has been a senior researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) and a professor at Universität Hamburg (in accordance with §17 of the HmbHG) since April 2010. She researches the transformation of journalism within a changing media environment, journalism theories and methods of communication and journalism research.
She studied communication science, psychology, and German studies at the University of Münster, where she also completed her doctorate. Her habilitation at Universität Hamburg was dedicated to the topic of “Transformations of Journalism and Journalism Research”. Wiebke Loosen held visiting professorships at the Universities of Münster and Munich.
