Mattes Ruckdeschel
Research associate P6 "Political Discourse"
Mattes Ruckdeschel has been working as a Junior Researcher iat the Leibniz-Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) under the supervision of Dr. Gregor Wiedemann since June 2021, where he researches the application of methods from Natural Language processing for communication science research.
Mattes studied Computer Science and Engineering at the Technical University Hamburg. He wrote his master thesis at the Language Technology Group of Universität Hamburg (Prof. Chris Biemann) in collaboration with the German news organization DER SPIEGEL. During his studies, he also worked at DER SPIEGEL as a software engineer on open source software for investigative journalism.
After completing his studies, Mattes worked as a research assistant in the Language Technology Group on the further development of the open source software new/s/leak and drafted NLP methods for researching political discourse at the HBI.
